This replacement ignitor cable is designed specifically for the Martin MDV series direct vent wall heaters. It connects the ignitor button or module to the sparking electrode assembly, restoring reliable ignition when the original cable fails or degrades.

Features

  • Compatible with Martin MDV models (MDV8, MDV12, MDV20) and other MDV series direct-vent wall heaters.

  • High-quality insulated ignition lead, engineered for high-voltage spark transfer and safe operation in harsh heater environments.

  • Direct replacement: insert the cable into the existing ignitor button or spark module and route it to the electrode. A simple swap-out installation.

  • Durable construction: resistive to heat, vibration and wear to ensure long-term performance in direct-vent heater setups.

  • Works for both natural gas and propane configurations, as long as the MDV series original ignitor cable had failed.

When your Martin MDV wall heater experiences ignition failures, intermittent sparks, or visible damage to the ignition cable (cracking, burning, corrosion), replacing the ignitor cable restores error-free ignition without the need to replace the entire ignition assembly. This ensures safe heating operation and helps maintain the heater’s factory-designed performance.

Installation & Compatibility

Confirm your heater is one of the Martin MDV series (MDV8, MDV12, or MDV20). Before installation, shut off the gas supply and allow the unit to cool. Remove the front cover to access the control panel. Disconnect the original ignitor cable from the button or module and the electrode. Install the new ignitor cable in the same routing, securing both ends. Ensure proper clearance from hot surfaces and that high-voltage insulation remains intact. Restore power/gas and test for proper ignition. Refer to the Martin MDV installation manual for detailed safety and routing instructions.

Maintenance & Safety

Inspect the ignitor cable annually for signs of wear, heat damage, or insulation breakdown. Ensure the spark gap electrode is clean and positioned correctly. Also, keep the cable away from flames and hot surfaces to prevent arcing or cable failure. For optimal performance, maintain a clean burner compartment free of soot and debris.
